The Life of A Student Business Owner

02/22/2020

Makya Stell (CEO of Modification Application & Systems) presented at the 43rd Big XII on Black Student Government. With her was a panel consisting of Nadja Theodore (CEO of Nadja Theodore: Makeup Artistry), Jay Green (CEO of IMPossible and Kolgate Kutz), and Abbey Sempebwa (CEO of Summer Skin). This workshop allotted students the chance to learn what it means to be a business owner while also maintaining their status as a student. During this seminar, the presenters explored the different types of businesses that people could establish while also providing the crowd with business tips. This seminar was not only interactive, but it was a fun way to provide students with the materials to get a business up and running.

The goal of this seminar was to raise awareness of how easy it is to not only start a business but continue maintaining the business. Another goal of this seminar was to increase the number of black business owners. To accomplish this goal, attendees were given online tools and tips that they could use to help them start a business with no more than $500. Hopefully the students that attended this seminar will increase the overall number of black businesses by opening a business.
